Mighty God
To whom, O Lord, shall we liken Thee, or shalt Thou be equal? Thou art God, and beside Thee there is none else. We worship Thee, the triune God, the Father of lights, with Whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning; the Eternal Son, the Redeemer of men, the Lion of the tribe of Judah; the Holy Spirit, Who didst move upon the face of the water, Who inspired every prophet, and spake of the Messiah Who was to come, the divine Power in the Incarnation, the Energy of the second Adam the Lord from heaven, the Quickener of the body of the Crucified, the Power of Pentecost, the Spirit Who quickeneth such as are dead in trespasses and sins - Thou mighty God, the Father, Son and Holy ghost, we worship Thee.

We thank Thee that Thou hast not left us to fight our battles alone. Thou hast looked down from heaven; Thou hast witnessed our impotence in the grip of the destroyer; Thou hast had compassion upon us; and, having raised up Thy Son Jesus, Thou didst send him to bless us by turning away every one of us from his iniquities.

We thank Thee for every brand plucked out of the fire; for every lamb delivered from the lion's mouth; for every Ruth brought from Moab's land to meet her Boaz in the house of bread; for all whom Thou hast gathered safely into the Ark from the judgment of this world. We bless Thee that as Thou didst display Thy wisdom, Thy power, and Thy benevolence, in the creation of worlds, Thou hast given us a further and a fuller revelation of the grace that is in God through Him Whom Thou hast sent to us full of grace and truth. As Thou didst sustain our Redeemer and Representative and Exemplar in the wilderness, and show Thy matchless strength in the exploits of One Who did cures and cast out devils, and proved Himself stronger than the strong man armed, even leading Him through Jordan's tide to glorious victory beyond the grave, so help us all to receive Him as our Saviour, and then to run unwearied, and to walk without fainting, and at last in triumph to cross the river to the glories which lie beyond. We ask it in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
